David Kain

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, David Kain has been writing since he was eleven years old, and he followed this passion for storytelling all way to achieving a Ph.D. in Creative Writing, submitting a political novel set in North East England as part of his thesis and drinking eight shots of espresso before his viva. During his time in academia, David also began work on his debut novel The Royalists, first penning it as a screenplay before adapting it into a novel. He has always had a deep love of fantasy, science-fiction, and horror, and enjoys writing character-focused, emotional works across all of these genres, enhanced by what he’s learned studying political fiction. One of David’s favourite things to write are fight scenes – ideally swordfights – which sadly don’t feature quite as frequently as they might do in political novels.
In addition to writing novels, David is an avid screenwriter and has been fortunate enough to work with several talented filmmakers and achieve recognition in a number of film festivals and screenwriting competitions. His works include Mother’s Legacy, a psychological horror, and the crime thriller series, The City is Ours, and he is the Lead Writer for the dark fantasy film and series, Amalia and The Amalia Chronicles. David also wrote Paranormal Preparatory School, an interactive narrative game set in a school for the undead, which was released in 2022.
